| Universal Robots was officially founded in 2005 by Esben Østergaard(recipient of the prestigious Engelberger Robotics Award 2018), Kasper Støy, and Kristian Kassow, in Denmark. The establishment of the company was made possible by Syddansk Innovation investment. Later getting acquired by Teradyne Inc (Nasdaq: TER) in 2015, complementing the company’s system and wireless test businesses while adding a powerful growth platform to the parent company. Moving forward launching table-top cobot UR3(3 kilo payload cobot is ideal for light assembly tasks and automated workbench scenarios), and Universal Robots+ ecosystem(premier platform for manufacturers to create custom solutions that automate tasks on the factory floor). UR Academy was launched in 2017, providing a free-of-charge offer for everybody with a desire to learn the concepts of collaborative robots. The new ground-breaking e-Series collaborative robots was unveiled at Automatica 2018. Subsequently introducing heavy-duty 16kg payload cobot (UR16e) and ActiNav the world’s first autonomous bin picking kit for machine tending applications.
