CHMER Demonstrates AI-Powered EDM Innovations at TMTS 2026

Ching Hung Machinery & Electric Industrial Co, Ltd (CHMER), a global leader in electrical discharge machining (EDM), is participating in TMTS 2026 under the theme ‘Ecosystem × Integrate the Future’. The company is unveiling its NV Series high-precision linear motor driven Wire Cut EDM, designed to meet the demands of high accuracy, stability, and reliability in advanced industries such as electronics, medical devices, automotive, and ICT. CHMER is highlighting its NV432L, featuring cutting-edge AI and energy-saving technologies.

According to Brad Wang, General Manager, CHMER, the company leverages over 50 years of expertise in precision equipment manufacturing to develop the NV series, tailored for high-precision machining. The machine features a high-rigidity trapezoidal base, achieving positioning accuracy of ±3 μm. With its AC-μ ultra-fine finishing circuit, it delivers a superior surface roughness of Ra 0.09 μm. Equipped with a UX1 linear motor and a 0.1 μm absolute optical scale, the system ensures stable and precise motion control. Additionally, its sixth-generation automatic wire threading system achieves a near 100 percent success rate, meeting the dual demands of efficiency and quality in precision machining.

In terms of core technology development, CHMER has long mastered several key proprietary technologies, including its patented linear motor drive system. The machine adopts an exclusive dual-balance linear motor design, eliminating magnetic attraction between upper and lower structures, minimizing heat generation, and preventing backlash increase over time—ensuring long-term precision performance. CHMER has also developed one of the world’s most streamlined automatic wire threading mechanisms, offering both high speed and ease of maintenance. Its in-house CNC control system utilizes the latest EtherCAT architecture and a newly designed user interface, delivering fast computing performance and user-friendly operation.

In response to the rise of AI-driven manufacturing, CHMER has innovated an AI-powered EDM calculation module to further advance smart manufacturing solutions. This module automatically optimizes machining parameters based on material conditions, improving efficiency by over 15 percent and achieving shape accuracy of ±2 μm. Its AI-based predictive maintenance system integrates sensor data with up to 90 percent accuracy, effectively reducing downtime risks. Combined with 14 patented energy-saving and operational optimization technologies, the NV432L reduces overall energy consumption by 40 percent, showcasing the value of green machine tools and helping customers transition toward high-efficiency, low-carbon, and sustainable manufacturing.
