The Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL) has rescheduled its Austech and Australian Manufacturing Week (AMW) exhibitions to March 8 - 11, 2022. Initially, the inaugural edition of AMW was set to take place in Melbourne in May 2021, co-located side-by-side with Austech at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). Austech is Australia’s premier advanced manufacturing & machine tool exhibition, owned and run by AMTIL since 2000. AMW, Australia’s premier manufacturing solutions event was recently launched by AMTIL exhibition.
The decision to postpone the two exhibitions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and imposed travel restrictions as well as health concerns, was made at a recent meeting of the AMTIL Board. The step was also heavily influenced by sentiment among AMTIL members and industry feedback, which highlighted challenges in planning overseas machinery shipments to Australia for the event, as well as limiting the technicians’ ability to attend, install, and demonstrate machines. Hence, AMTIL decided that the postponement of both exhibitions would result in a much stronger event in 2022 by giving the industry a long timeframe to prepare with confidence.
“AMTIL has a proud history of running strong industry exhibitions, and to forge ahead with a reduced event in 2020 would not provide the strong outcomes that AMTIL desires for its members and the industry as a whole. This decision has not been taken lightly, and the Board and all of the AMTIL team are disappointed that this decision has had to be made,” explained Shane Infanti, Chief Executive Officer, AMTIL. “That said, from the feedback we’ve had since announcing AMW, we know that Australian manufacturing is keen to get back to work once this crisis is over and the recovery is underway, so there’s a lot of excitement about these shows. In these challenging times AMTIL is fortunate to have secured suitable space at MCEC for these new dates, and we are looking forward to delivering a safe, robust event in March 2022.”
