Bengaluru’s Long-Awaited Metro Stretch to BIEC Finally Sees Light at the End of the Tunnel

Bengaluru’s long-awaited Nagasandra to Madavara Metro, the 3.7 km stretch of the Green Line extension, is set to open by the end of July 2024, marking the end of a five-year delay. The stretch features three stations, namely Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara, costing INR 298 crore.
It is aimed at making traveling convenient for commuters, especially visiting the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
In addition to the completion of the extension, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has also built roads to provide access to Anchepalya village and its surroundings, with a total of 3 km. However, painting work, granite stone laying, and system works are set for completion by June, and subsequent trial runs and inspections by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety will lead to its opening by July. Travelers from Madanayakanahalli, Makali villages, and Nelamangala who are visiting Bengaluru will also reap the benefits of this, since the terminus station is just 6 km away.
