Fagor Automation’s ‘Easy Volumetric Compensation’ Fix Machining Errors

Fagor Automation’s ‘Easy Volumetric Compensation’ makes it possible to fix machining errors caused by features related to design, kinematics, assembly and so on. It capacitates to limit the points to only 25 per axes, making it much faster to calibrate the points and integrate them into the CNC. This is a groundbreaking development for small machines, also traditional ballscrew and backlash compensation can still be used.

Typical geometric blunders that may arise during the production / assembly / production of machine wear and abuse may cause early deformation of the machine. Standard Volumetric Coverage requires expensive hardware and precious time to compile all compensation data points and then apply to the CNC. An expense for Large Machine Tools is well accepted but is much more difficult to justify for small and mid-size machine tools. That is why traditional error compensation methods need to be complemented by more advanced tools that adapt to different system designs, along with kinematics.

As a response to the needs Volumetric Compensation was launched by the company. Up to 21 compensation tables were generated, which the CNC managed simultaneously to obtain high quality machining using measurements made by specialized companies. Without achieving the accuracy levels of the standard Volumetric Compensation, incredibly significant and relevant enhancements in accuracy are accomplished for most machines.
