Hindustan Zinc Reports Historic Production Figures for Q4 and FY24
Hindustan Zinc Ltd recently announced its production numbers for the fourth quarter and year ended March 31, 2024. In the fourth quarter of FY24, the company achieved its highest-ever quarterly refined metal production, reaching 273 kt, marking a 6 percent sequential increase attributed to improved plant availability and a 1 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase, with refined zinc production reaching 220 kt, up 9 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and 2 percent YoY, while refined lead production stood at 53 kt, experiencing a 2 percent YoY decrease and a 5 percent QoQ decrease.
Mined metal production for the same period was at 299 kt, up 11 percent QoQ, driven by a mix of improved mined metal grades and higher ore production across mines. Saleable silver production was 6.1 moz, up 4 percent YoY on account of WIP depletion in the current quarter and down 4 percent QoQ in line with lead metal production, partly offset by WIP depletion.
In FY24, the company achieved its best-ever mined metal production at 1,079 kt, representing a 2 percent year-over-year increase, propelled by enhanced mined metal grades, while refined metal production also reached its highest annual output. Silver recorded the highest volume in FY24 in line with management’s operational and financial strategy, at 24.0 moz, up 5 percent YoY, and refined lead production was at 216 kt, up 3 percent YoY. Wind power generation for 4QFY24 was 61 MU, up 11 percent sequentially and down 14 percent YoY, depending upon wind velocity and seasonality impact.
