The IAA Open Space is the largest downtown event in Germany: From the Marienplatz to the Odeonsplatz to the Königsplatz, the exhibition area for IAA MOBILITY 2025 spans the entire center of Munich and offers an interactive, free program for the whole family and all ages from September 9-14.
Cycling & Micromobility Area
The mobility of the future is about integrating different modes of transport, not pitting them against each other. Cycling and micromobility are therefore a central component of IAA MOBILITY. New this year is the combined Cycling & Micromobility Area at the northern Ludwigstraße, just before the Siegestor, which puts a stronger emphasis on this aspect. Here, in September, visitors can view and test the latest innovations in cycling and micromobility.
“We are grouping together the exhibitors in the Cycling & Micromobility Area in the northern section of the Open Space to be even closer to the starting points,” says Christine von Breitenbuch, Project Manager, IAA MOBILITY, Messe München. “A particular highlight is the Cycling Test Track in the English Garden. On the four-kilometer circuit, visitors can try out and compare bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters free of charge. This new offering provides an enhanced opportunity for companies in the cycling and micromobility sectors to showcase their products to hundreds of thousands of visitors.”
Cycling Activation Area
Additionally, visitors can enjoy a course on the Ludwigstraße at the Schellingstraße level. The so-called Cycling Activation Area offers a diverse program throughout the event, focusing on cycling and micromobility, entertainment, and test rides. The specially designed course includes test modules that simulate real road conditions, featuring elements such as gravel sections, speed bumps, and incline modules. Whether it’s a cargo bike, an e-bike, or an e-scooter, every form of urban mobility can be tested under realistic conditions here. The additional program is equally varied ranging from mountain bike courses for children to driving safety training for seniors, concerts, group rides, and BMX stunt shows.
“The course offers exhibitors a unique opportunity to present their products and innovations under realistic testing conditions, with varied obstacles like rough cobblestones, speed humps, curbs, and gravel stretches, to a broad audience. Here, visitors can experience firsthand what the future of the cycling and micromobility industry feels like. With different curve formations and an acceleration section, bicycles and similar products can be tested and experienced even more dynamically,” says Jan Heckmann, Project Manager, IAA MOBILITY, VDA.
IAA—It’s All About MOBILITY, It’s All About You
The transformation of IAA MOBILITY from a traditional automotive trade show into a comprehensive mobility platform is reflected in its new slogan: ‘It’s All About MOBILITY’. This slogan underscores the event’s expanded focus, which, since its transformation in 2021, has embraced mobility in all its facets and provided a global stage.
IAA MOBILITY unites the entire spectrum of mobility in one relevant event and, through the motto ‘It’s All About MOBILITY’, perfectly captures the essence of the platform. The fact that ‘It’s All About’ also forms the acronym ‘IAA’ is no accident—it symbolizes the evolution of IAA into a platform dedicated to shaping the future of mobility in all its forms.
The IAA is one of the oldest trade shows in the world, with roots dating back to 1897. Over the decades, not only the world and society have changed, but also the concept of mobility and, consequently, the IAA. By focusing on forward-thinking solutions such as electric vehicles, autonomous driving, and innovative transportation concepts, IAA MOBILITY emphasizes its commitment to leading the way in shaping the future of mobility. This reflects the strategic shift from the ‘International Automobile Exhibition’ to a holistic mobility platform that has been operating as IAA MOBILITY since 2021.
