KBL Supplies Fire-fighting Pumping Systems To ‘Atal Tunnel’ Project

Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL) provided its hi-tech fire-fighting pumping systems for deployment along the 9-km stretch of ‘Atal Tunnel’ project which is the world’s longest motorable tunnel situated at Rohtang, Manali in Himachal Pradesh. These pump sets are FM approved / UL listed, other arrays of pumps for fire-fighting applications developed by the company are FR, FH, FF, and MSF Series.

The company designs its fire pump-sets as per NFPA-20 specifications (National Fire Protection Association – USA) to meet the stringent fire safety norms and at the same time for cost-effectiveness.

The ‘Atal Tunnel’ was opened to public use by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The all-weather tunnel, which is strategically important, connects Manali to Leh and is located in the PirPanjal range of Himalayas at an altitude of 10,000 feet above the sea level. An example of ‘Make in India’ success, it deploys the best-in-class technology and state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical engineering systems, which are essential for fire and life safety of the project.
