Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Taiwan, R.O.C., and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), jointly with the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), organized ‘Taiwan Excellence Plastic & Rubber Machinery Online Press Conference 2020’ recently.
Taiwan is known for supplying high quality goods with refined technology and consistent performance. It has emerged as one of the top six plastics and rubber machinery exporting countries in the world.
Opening Remarks
Speaking on the advanced trends, Walter Yeh, President & CEO, TAITRA stated in his opening remarks, “Taiwan's plastics and rubber machinery industry is constantly upgrading and combines its strong ICT & smart automation technologies, to build smart systems and solutions to fulfill the demand for cutting-edge technique development and customized production.”
Added in alignment, Guann-Jyh Lee, Deputy Director General, BOFT, “The circular economy is the next trend in the industry due to the rise of global plastic restriction issues, hence manufacturers must be able to quickly respond to new production regulations. Taiwan continues to accelerate the creation of all-electric injection molding machines with good environmental performance, featuring low noise, low vibration, power saving, cooling water saving and running cost savings, to become the best partner of the global manufacturing industry with environment-friendly smart machinery.” He assured that the Taiwan government will continue to provide necessary assistance to businesses to meet the demands of the industry.
Focused Agenda
There were presentations from four leading Taiwanese companies on their advanced smart manufacturing solutions. The topics were woven around Two-Component Injection Molding Machines, High Speed Stretch Blow Molding Machines, Intelligent All-Electric Blow Molding Machines and a Five-layer co-extrusion for industrial stretch-hood.
Intelligent Offerings
With more than 50 years of experience, Taiwan’s plastic and rubber machinery sector is geared to offer smart solutions encompassing Artificial Intelligence, IIoT, intelligent automation and advanced manufacturing technologies to create ‘smart, high-end, custom-made’ production solutions.
Fu Chun Shin Machinery Manufacture Co., Ltd
Neilson Su, Sales Manager, Fu Chun Shin Machinery Manufacture Co., Ltd, manufacturer of plastic injection molding machines spoke on the ‘Application and solutions for Multi-component injection molding (HB-R Series, FB-R Series). He shared, “In order to meet various customer requirements FCS is dedicated to develop customized multi-component injection molding machines, which broaden the application scope of the industry.”
ChumPower Machinery Corp
It is the largest PET blow molding machine manufacturer in Taiwan. Tony Wu, Sales Support Engineer of the company focused on ‘High speed stretch blow molding machine’ that is ideal for production lines with medium-to-high capacity and is highly cost-effective. The machine is suitable for various markets to produce different bottles and is applicable to mineral water, tea, juice, edible oil, medicine bottles, seasoning, CSD, cosmetics, and more. Wu emphasized, “L-Series is the fastest blow molding machine in the world, with its per cavity output of 2,250 bottles per hour being faster than its competitors’ 1,800-2,000 bottles per hour. Global brands including PEPSI, Kao, LOTTE, and many others use Chumpower machines to produce PET bottles.”
Fong Kee International Machinery Co., Ltd
It is the largest and finest machinery manufacturer in Taiwan’s plastic extrusion industry, providing a wide variety of machinery, such as blow molding, blown film, cast film, sheet making, extrusion lamination machines, among others. Charles Wei, CEO of the company introduced its ‘Intelligent All-Electric Three Layer Blow Molding Machine-Industry 4.0’. He elaborated, “The model is environment-friendly and decreases average power consumption by 18%, specific energy Index by 22%, noise levels by 20db and CO2 emissions by 42.4% while increasing the production rate by 13.3%. Moreover, it is equipped with the SCADA system, so for long-term production, all data can be collected for further analysis to improve efficiency, cut costs, and enhance profitability.”
Diing Kuen Plastic Machinery, Co., Ltd
The company specializes in extruders for creating a diverse range of plastic products. Eric Wei, Vice Chairman of the business discussed its ‘Five layers co-extrusion for industrial stretch-hood’, which is a high efficiency extrusion for multilayer blown film and can be automatically calibrated online. It is well-equipped with a data acquisition & analysis system and automatic feeding system.
“With the application of IIoT, the product can provide remote service, detection, and automated online operation. Furthermore, clients can use the augmented reality instruction manual to eliminate the operating difficulties, which is very important during the COVID-19 pandemic, because of the need to avoid face-to-face interaction,” asserted Wei, discussing ‘Driving you to smart manufacturing’.
Encouraging Beginning
The event witnessed the presence of more than 532 viewers from different countries around the globe such as India, Egypt, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. The forthcoming event of TAITRA, ‘TaipeiPLAS Digital Week’ is scheduled from Sept 21-29, 2020.
