SMW‑Autoblok New Chuck HFKS-2G Delivers Doubled Grip Force

One of the leading worldwide manufacturers of workholding for turning and grinding machine tools, SMW‑Autoblok introduced the HFKS-2G power chuck. The new weight optimized chuck with specially designed flats as well as large through hole for minimizing inertia, maximizing part accessibility, and saving spindle wear and tear is ideal for high volume lathe, mill turn center applications, precise machining of easily deformed workpieces (including gripping of both I.D. and O.D. part geometries). It can use shorter tools to achieve closer access to workpieces.

The wedge hook system, paired with a multi jaw guide, multiplies the touch points. The chuck has a specially built guidance mechanism with inclined geometry that mechanically locks the master jaw after clamping against the chuck body. This multi-jaw control, along with the incorporated centrifugal force compensation, provides significantly higher speeds and delivers double the grip force at maximum RPM compared to other conventional 3-jaw chucks in the industry.

In addition to the specially built lubrication system that minimizes downtime and lowers repair costs, direct lubrication channels and grease reservoirs are included in the jaw guideways. The chuck body and the interior parts are both case hardened and polished. Accessible in a range of sizes from 165 to 320 mm, this specialized power chuck embraces all inch toothed top jaws.
