Recognizing yoga as India’s timeless contribution to the world and a powerful practice for achieving harmony between the mind, body, and spirit, International Day of Yoga has become a global movement inspired by the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote wellness and preventive healthcare. Vedanta’s participation in this global observance reflects its commitment to making well-being an integral part of everyday life.
Across the Group, Vedanta Ltd (including Hindustan Zinc Ltd, Vedanta Copper, Vedanta Nickel, FACOR, and other subsidiaries), Vedanta Aluminium, Vedanta Oil & Gas, Vedanta Iron & Steel, and Vedanta Power organized yoga sessions and wellness engagements focused on promoting healthier lifestyles and mindfulness. The initiatives included guided yoga and meditation sessions, wellness interactions with yoga specialists and doctors, and activities focused on physical and mental well-being.
The celebrations extended beyond workplaces to communities through Vedanta’s flagship social impact initiative, Nand Ghar. Spanning over 13,000 centers across 17 states in India, Nand Ghars are modernized Anganwadis that transform the lives of children, women, and communities through interventions in early childhood education, nutrition, healthcare, and women empowerment. Across the Nand Ghar network, children and mothers participated in yoga asanas and breathing exercises, promoting awareness around healthy lifestyles and holistic well-being. Yoga sessions were also organized at Vedanta AAS Vidyalaya Cafes in Jharkhand, computer training centers and skill schools in Chhattisgarh, Zinc Kaushal centers in Rajasthan, and other community initiatives, engaging young learners and trainees in practices promoting mindfulness and wellness.
The International Day of Yoga celebrations are an extension of Vedanta’s larger people practices philosophy, which focuses on creating an environment where people can grow and succeed. The Group continues to invest in holistic well-being through world-class townships with modern amenities, healthcare and recreational facilities, employee wellness programs, learning and development initiatives, and platforms supporting physical, emotional, and social well-being. As part of its commitment to fostering employee ownership and engagement, Vedanta also introduced the Employee Stock Ownership Scheme (ESOS), enabling employees to participate in the Group’s growth journey and strengthening their sense of belonging.
Moreover, to encourage active and healthy lifestyles, Vedanta promotes participation in sporting and fitness initiatives, including marathons across India such as the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, Vedanta Pink City Half Marathon in Jaipur, and Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon in Udaipur, among others. These platforms encourage participation in fitness and help build a culture of wellness.
Vedanta’s commitment to health extends beyond its workforce through community healthcare initiatives, including mobile health vans, dedicated hospitals, and accessible healthcare services for employees and communities across remote and rural regions. Through these efforts, Vedanta continues to strengthen the well-being ecosystem around its operations and create shared value for all stakeholders.
