Alchemy Cleantech, Paragon Biofuels Inaugurate Ankleshwar Bio-CNG Plant

By MWM Desk3 min read

Editorial Highlights

  • The Ankleshwar facility converts 43,800 tonnes of annual organic waste into 2,373 tonnes of clean, renewable Compressed Bio-Gas.
  • This initiative cuts 17,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, supporting India's ambitious net-zero energy goals.
  • The project creates 200 total jobs while generating nutrient-rich bio-fertilizers to support sustainable agricultural practices.

Alchemy Cleantech and Paragon Biofuels jointly inaugurated the Ankleshwar Bio CNG Plant, a purpose-built company established through their strategic partnership to advance sustainable waste-to-energy infrastructure in India. The inauguration marks a landmark step in India’s transition toward a circular energy economy — one that converts organic waste into clean fuel, recovers valuable nutrients, and creates meaningful livelihoods along the way.

The Ankleshwar Bio CNG Plant is engineered to treat 43,800 tonnes of organic waste every year, converting it into 2,373 tonnes of Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) — a direct replacement for conventional CNG. In doing so, the facility will prevent 17,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, equivalent to 6,272.6 hectares of forest land or 7.95 million liters of petrol saved, making a substantial contribution to India’s net-zero ambitions. The process also generates 7,300 tonnes of solid FOM and 27,375 cubic meters of liquid FOM per year — nutrient-rich bio-fertilizers that support sustainable agriculture and close the loop on waste.

“At Alchemy Cleantech, we believe the future of energy lies not in extraction, but in regeneration. The Ankleshwar Bio CNG Plant is proof that waste is not a problem to be buried — it is a resource waiting to be unlocked. Together with Paragon Biofuels, we are taking a decisive step toward building a truly circular energy economy in India, where every tonne of organic waste becomes clean fuel, fertile soil, and shared prosperity. This is just the beginning; our vision is a network of such plants across the country that collectively transform how India produces and consumes energy,” said Sushant Arora, Founder, Alchemy Cleantech.

Beyond its environmental impact, the Ankleshwar Bio CNG Plant is a catalyst for inclusive economic growth. The facility will create direct employment for approximately 50 people and support indirect livelihoods for around 150 more through waste aggregation, logistics, and allied vendor networks — demonstrating that sustainability and economic opportunity are not trade-offs, but partners.

“Waste-to-clean-energy will be one of the defining pillars of India’s energy security over the coming decades. At Paragon Biofuels, we have strong conviction in this opportunity and are committing INR 500 crore to help scale the sector. The Ankleshwar Bio CNG Plant is an important milestone that demonstrates how capital, technology, and policy can align to create sustainable infrastructure with measurable impact. We are investing in a future where organic waste becomes a strategic national resource—producing clean fuel, supporting rural livelihoods, reducing emissions, and strengthening India’s journey towards a circular and energy-secure economy,” stated Susmit Gupta, Managing Director, Paragon Biofuels.

The inauguration of the Ankleshwar Bio CNG Plant sets the template for Alchemy Cleantech and Paragon Biofuels’ broader shared ambition: deploying scalable, replicable waste-to-energy infrastructure across India’s industrial and urban centers. With each new facility, the partnership moves closer to its goal of building a nationwide circular energy ecosystem that turns organic waste into a strategic national asset.
