Honeywell India, IISc Join Forces to Support 37 Deep Science Startups

Honeywell Automation India Ltd, through its philanthropic arm Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation, is partnering with the Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to support deep science startups. Over the past four years, it has provided financial and research assistance to 37 Indian startups, with a focus on agri-tech, clean-tech, health-tech, and green-tech, totaling INR 9 crore. In the fiscal year 2023-24 alone, the company allocated INR 2.4 crore to 8 startups and 5 entrepreneurship-in-residence programs, with plans to onboard 10 more startups.

This collaboration offers startups not only seed funding but also access to cutting-edge facilities, industry connections, and a global network. Supported startups include Papyrus Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, Akumen Artificial Intelligence, Hoyasan Labs Pvt Ltd, Cellsion Technologies Pvt Ltd, Easescan MedTech Pvt Ltd, Kaiza Tech, Green Collar Agritech, and Mushloop Pvt Ltd. Ashish Modi, President, Honeywell, emphasizes the company’s commitment to fostering local innovation, while Prof B Gurumoorthy, Director, FSID and Professor, IISc, praises Honeywell’s support in providing crucial capital and intellectual backing to deep science startups.

Notable startups include AI Highway, offering cardiac disease screening systems, and OpenWater.in, providing wastewater treatment solutions. Additionally, Dfine Bio Innovations Pvt Ltd has developed a hemostatis system named FibriTimer Zeta-1, supported by a Honeywell grant, which aids in diagnosing bleeding and thrombosis events, contributing to medical advancements in India.
